About this role
Michels Underground Cable installs and maintains the telecommunications infrastructure that keeps networks running—fiber optic and coaxial cables on poles across the country. As a Teledata Lineman, you'd handle the hands-on work of installing, maintaining, and repairing these low-voltage systems while adhering to safety regulations and company procedures. The role demands comfort with heavy equipment operation and the physical demands of pole work.
You'll need one to three years of related experience or training, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and a willingness to work under a union collective bargaining agreement. A commercial driver's license is preferred. Travel is part of the position. Michels invests significantly in employee development—averaging $5,000 per person annually on training—and offers a full benefits package including health, dental, 401(k), disability coverage, and several other protections. The company emphasizes safety as a shared responsibility across all levels and values people who embrace new challenges rather than defaulting to "how we've always done it."
This role suits someone looking for steady work with a family-owned, established contractor that prioritizes both employee development and meaningful infrastructure work. If you have the foundational experience and are ready for hands-on technical work in a union environment, this could be a solid fit.
