Are you an experienced Social Worker who thrives on making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children? We are looking for dedicated professionals to join a supportive, forward-thinking local authority in the Northeast.

In this role, you won't just be managing a caseload—you'll be part of a team that prioritizes manageable workloads, high-quality reflective supervision, and real opportunities for career progression.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Carrying out comprehensive, child-focused assessments under Child Protection and Child in Need frameworks.
  • Formulating and implementing robust safeguarding plans to ensure children are safe and supported within their families or care settings.
  • Initiating and managing care proceedings, including writing high-quality court reports and giving evidence when required.
  • Collaborating closely with multi-agency partners (schools, health professionals, police) to deliver holistic, wrapped-around support.

Benefits:

We know how demanding safeguarding can be, which is why this local authority is committed to backing its staff with a highly competitive package and a healthy work-life balance.

  • Financial Reward: A base salary of £45,000 plus a £2,500 market supplement.
  • Workload Balance: A strict focus on keeping caseloads stable and manageable so you can actually do the work that matters.
  • Support Structure: Regular, meaningful 1-to-1 supervision and access to excellent administrative support to reduce your paperwork burden.
  • Flexibility: Hybrid working arrangements to help you balance office, home, and community visits.
  • Benefits: Excellent local government pension scheme, generous annual leave allowance, and clear pathways into Senior Practitioner or Team Manager roles.

Qualifications and Experience:

We need practitioners who are resilient, empathetic, and sharp when it comes to risk assessment.

  • Qualifications: A recognized degree in Social Work (BA, Social Work England registered).
  • Experience: Post-qualified experience within a statutory Children’s Safeguarding or Child Protection team.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills for risk assessment, excellent courtroom/report writing capabilities, and a knack for building trust with families in crisis.
  • Compliance: Full, clean driving license with access to a vehicle for community visits, and an enhanced DBS check.

Reasonable Adjustments:

If you consider yourself to have a disability or require any reasonable adjustment during the recruitment process or within the workplace, please highlight this at the earliest opportunity by contacting our team. With this information, we will provide appropriate support to you throughout the process and into your work placement.
