About this role

Hawthorne Cat's Waipahu service shop is hiring a Tech 1 to diagnose and repair construction machinery and power generation equipment under the direction of a Service Manager. This is a temporary, in-office position where you'll work independently on troubleshooting mechanical problems in Caterpillar and allied equipment, performing welding, fabrication, plumbing, and electrical repairs, and reconditioning major components to manufacturer specs. You'll also handle warranty assessments, complete equipment condition reporting, and meet established time and quality standards with minimal rework.

The role demands hands-on technical skill and physical capability. You'll need at least five years of equipment service experience, a high school diploma, valid driver's license, PC skills, and forklift certification (or the ability to obtain it within 60 days). You must own your own hand tools and be prepared for demanding physical work—lifting up to 60 pounds regularly, working in and under equipment, and operating in a shop environment with noise, temperature variations, fumes, and harsh substances.

Hawthorne Cat offers competitive compensation at $43.84 annually, along with medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company matching, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, boot reimbursement, and advanced technical training. The company emphasizes safety, teamwork, and professional development within an established, family-owned organization.
