About this role
Haven Hills, a Los Angeles-based domestic violence services organization operating since 1977, is recruiting Board Members to help guide its strategic direction and ensure the organization can sustain and expand its work with over 2,500 survivors annually. This volunteer position suits someone with genuine commitment to the mission of breaking cycles of domestic violence through healing and empowerment, and who can contribute meaningfully to governance, fundraising, and community representation.
Board Members are expected to attend roughly twelve meetings per year (six full board and six committee meetings), plus an annual retreat. Beyond attendance, the role requires a personal financial commitment—either a direct annual gift or personal fundraising effort—and active participation in fundraising activities outlined in the Development Plan. You'll help shape organizational strategy, support executive leadership evaluation, and represent Haven Hills' values in public settings.
This is best suited to someone with board experience or strong professional networks, genuine passion for the mission, and the capacity to contribute both time and resources. If you're looking to deepen your involvement in domestic violence prevention and have the bandwidth for regular in-person participation in Los Angeles, reach out to Melissa Montoya at melissa@envisionnonprofit.com.
