About this role
The Matian Firm is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support its defense team in Los Angeles. You'll handle the operational backbone of criminal cases—managing discovery requests, preparing trial documents, scheduling court appearances and depositions, drafting motions, and maintaining case files. You'll also serve as a primary point of contact for clients, law enforcement, prosecutors, and witnesses, keeping cases moving smoothly from intake through trial or dismissal.
This role requires at least two years of criminal defense experience and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish. Familiarity with case management software is expected, and prior paralegal work or other legal field experience is necessary. Federal criminal matter experience is a plus. The position offers $20–32 per hour based on experience, along with medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parking, paid time off, and catered lunches.
