About this role

Sony Pictures Imageworks' Vancouver studio is seeking a Senior Texture Artist to lead texture creation on film and television projects. This role goes beyond individual artistry—you'll mentor junior and intermediate artists, conduct quality control across the team, and collaborate closely with modeling, lookdev, and other departments to solve complex technical and creative challenges. The position calls for someone with 5–6+ years of production experience who can work at the highest visual standards while actively shaping the overall look of a show alongside leads and supervisors.

The technical demands are substantial. You'll need advanced proficiency across Mari, Substance Painter, Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, ZBrush, and Substance Designer, plus solid knowledge of Linux/UNIX and shell scripting (Python a plus). Expertise in Katana, Lookdev, UV mapping, and Nuke is expected, along with deep understanding of colorspace workflows and rendering pipelines. Beyond tools, the role requires strong problem-solving skills, meticulous organization, and the ability to optimize complex paint setups—both your own and others'.

This is a full-time, in-office position in Vancouver paying $45.07–$60.10 per hour, with standard benefits including healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSPs, and paid leave. You'll need to submit a demo reel that demonstrates both artistic excellence and the technical depth relevant to senior-level texture work.
