About this role

Shinola and Filson, heritage brands under the Bedrock Manufacturing platform, are seeking a Controller to lead financial operations across both companies from their Detroit headquarters. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can manage the full accounting function—from month-end close and financial reporting to internal controls, tax coordination, and audit liaison work—while directly overseeing an accounting manager, AP/AR team, and cost accountant. You'll report to the CFO and work closely with senior leaders across both brands to ensure financial accuracy and strategic alignment.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of accounting or finance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally in a multi-entity manufacturing or consumer products environment. You'll need strong GAAP knowledge, hands-on Excel and ERP skills (NetSuite preferred), and a track record of building and developing finance teams. Beyond technical competency, this role demands someone who can challenge processes, drive continuous improvement, and communicate financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders. A CPA or master's degree is strongly preferred.

This is a position for someone energized by working in a growing, evolving company where individual contributions directly shape the organization's direction. You'll own the integrity of financial operations across two distinct brands while fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth within your team.
