About this role
Bird is seeking an Operations Partner in Columbus to manage the day-to-day logistics of its e-scooter fleet. You'll work directly with the local City Operations Manager to deploy, maintain, rebalance, and recover vehicles across the city, using mobile technology to keep scooters available where riders need them. This is hands-on work—you'll be transporting and repositioning vehicles, ensuring they're parked safely and compliantly, and managing charging and maintenance cycles to support the community's transportation needs.
This is an independent contractor role, which means you manage your own schedule and cover your own tools and expenses. You'll need to be registered as an LLC, carry general liability and commercial auto insurance, own or rent a van with charging capacity, and have reliable local transportation. The work is physically demanding, requiring you to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and be comfortable with flexible availability including weekends. The pay ranges from $500 to $2,000 per week depending on workload and performance.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable adapting to new systems and tools. You'll need strong knowledge of Columbus's geography, a valid driver's license, and the ability to simplify operational challenges into concrete tasks. If you're a "doer" with excellent execution habits who can thrive with autonomy and want to contribute to cleaner urban mobility, this role offers direct impact in your community.
