About this role

Nuwaru is looking for a Tax Manager to join a firm built by former Big 4 partners and tax directors who've moved away from traditional consulting models. The role sits in Melbourne on a full-time in-office basis, working across corporate tax, funds management, and specialist tax services. You'd handle a broad mix of advisory, compliance, ATO reviews, and governance work—supporting partners on client tax lodgements, researching complex matters, drafting corporate advice, assisting with restructures and M&A, and identifying process improvements for clients. The firm emphasizes end-to-end delivery rather than opinions alone, which means you'd be expected to move from analysis into implementation.

The position requires 6–8 years of corporate tax experience as a qualified tax lawyer or chartered accountant (CA, CPA, or equivalent), typically gained in accounting firms, law firms, or in-house roles. You'll need solid grounding in Australian corporate tax legislation, strong analytical and communication skills, and ideally some familiarity with tax software like TR OneSource or CCH Integrator. Professional memberships and licences—such as admission to the Supreme Court or membership with CAANZ or The Tax Institute—are expected.

Nuwaru positions itself as offering technical depth without the traditional firm grind. The package includes a collaborative culture, work-from-home flexibility, monthly technical training, and exposure to international work through WTS Global membership. This would suit someone looking to deepen their tax expertise and take on varied client work while maintaining better control over hours than a traditional Big 4 or top-tier firm environment.
