About this role

Allen Control Systems, a defense startup founded by former Navy engineers, is building autonomous gun turrets for the Department of Defense. As Buyer 2, you would manage the procurement side of this operation—sourcing and qualifying suppliers of machined parts and electrical components, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and ensuring materials arrive on time and to spec. The role sits at the intersection of engineering ambition and supply chain execution, requiring you to keep production moving while navigating the compliance requirements that come with defense contracting.

This position calls for someone with a background in procurement and supplier management, ideally with experience in machined parts or electrical components. You'll need strong negotiation skills, familiarity with government procurement rules (FAR, DFAR), and proficiency in procurement software. A bachelor's degree in supply chain management or business is expected, though equivalent work experience can substitute. Beyond the core buying function, you'll collaborate across engineering, production, and logistics teams to align suppliers with project timelines and identify ways to improve cost efficiency and supply chain resilience.

The role is full-time and in-office in Austin. ACS offers competitive salary, equity, and standard benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage plus paid time off.
