About this role
# About This Role
This position manages a substantial AWS RDS database infrastructure supporting federal government clients, administering over 30 databases across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS SQL Server environments. You'll own the full lifecycle of these systems—from deployment and performance tuning to disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and security configuration. The role also includes designing and implementing AWS Data Migration Services jobs for inter-database synchronization and integrating monitoring tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager. You'll work across multiple AWS accounts and collaborate with one or more teams to maintain system reliability and resolve operational issues.
The ideal candidate brings advanced, hands-on AWS RDS experience with all four database platforms, including multi-AZ deployments, performance optimization using AWS Performance Insights, encryption implementation, parameter group configuration, security group management, and user administration. You'll need to be comfortable with database auditing, log file analysis, and the full spectrum of maintenance and monitoring activities. A Top Secret security clearance and US citizenship are required, as is a five-day-per-week on-site presence in Washington, DC.
