Position Overview
This position combines office-based responsibilities with field activities and provides opportunities to support a variety of environmental investigations and studies. Responsibilities
- Work with senior staff to prepare project documents and reports.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead field efforts.
- Collect, evaluate, and report environmental and natural resource data.
- Conduct flora and fauna surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring.
- Support threatened and endangered species surveys and habitat management activities.
- Assist with plant nursery maintenance and wetland assessments.
- Support solid waste, stormwater, wastewater, and drinking water compliance projects.
- Assist with environmental investigations and remediation activities.
- Prepare technical reports and other project deliverables.
- Maintain project documentation and support document control and organization.
- Collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and project professionals.
- Perform a combination of office-based tasks and field activities across a variety of environmental compliance projects.
Required Qualifications
• A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following disciplines: Biology, Ecology, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Chemistry or Science related field.
• Two to five years of related experience
• An understanding of environmental science or natural resources within the Pacific region and/or coastal settings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information at an appropriate level of communication with varying levels of project staff, including local and remote staff
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat
• Able to work in both the office and the field.
• Must be comfortable working several days a week in hot and humid conditions on challenging terrain with thick vegetation
• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to learn quickly are vital
• Attention to detail in following safety plans, work plans, collecting data, and preparing reports
• Ability to acquire access on military installations and have a valid driver’s license
Note: This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.
Desired Qualifications
• Natural Resource experience on Guam or the CNMI with experience in wildlife and plant identification, plant propagation, and threatened and endangered species identification and surveys preferred
• Horticulture experience, including plant propagation is preferred
• Experience using GIS and handheld GPS units is preferred
• First Aid/CPR Training and 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training is a plus
