   Bids open irregularly and close fast. Under 31 at application for most routes.

2. 2

   2–6 months

   Pass the ATSA assessment and medical

   Aptitude battery, plus a strict medical and security clearance.

3. 3

   3–5 months

   Complete the FAA Academy

   Oklahoma City, months long, and genuinely washes people out.

4. 4

   1–3 years

   Certify at your assigned facility

   You are paid throughout, but you are not fully certified until you check out on position.
