Overview: Reporting to the SVP of Security & Life Safety, the Senior Director of Security manages daily security operations, supervises staff, and executes high-level goals for the Midtown portfolio.
The Senior Director serves as the primary operational bridge and strategic advisor to the SVP of Security & Life Safety and senior leadership. This role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive security strategies that protect employees, tenants, residents, visitors, and company assets while ensuring a safe, secure, and resilient environment across the portfolio. The Senior Director oversees security personnel, vendor relationships, incident response planning, and risk mitigation initiatives, while establishing operational standards and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of the security function.
Direct reports include Assistant Director of Security, Senior Security Managers, Security Managers, and other security professionals.
Responsibilities
: Leads and oversees all security operations across the Midtown portfolio, including the management of security employees and third-party vendors responsible for safeguarding company assets and ensuring the safety of employees, tenants, residents, and visitors. Develops, implements, and maintains security policies, standards, procedures, and best practices aligned with organizational objectives and industry standards. Directs physical security programs, including familiarization of access control systems, video surveillance, workplace violence prevention, asset protection, and related security programs.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining the midtown department’s budget, developing security goals, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives; ensuring all efforts align with corporate and departmental objectives and are approved by the SVP of Security & Life Safety. Proactively identifies, assesses, and monitors potential security, operational, and reputational risks affecting the organization and its stakeholders. Leads emergency preparedness and crisis response efforts in partnership with operations leadership, including the development and execution of site-specific incident response and business continuity plans.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies. Oversees incident response investigations, security breach reviews, and related disciplinary or legal matters, as necessary. Conducts and supervises internal investigations and ensures timely, thorough documentation and reporting.
Supports workforce planning, staffing strategies and scheduling. Provides regular operational updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Represents the Organization at public events, meetings, and with external partners.
