Mission Digi Security Systems designs, installs, and services lifesaving security technology that protects students, communities, and lives. The Tech Development Specialist delivers hands-on, in-person technical and cultural training for Digi technicians and subcontractors in Dallas. This team member will ensure every technician is field-ready, skilled to Digi's installation standards, and equipped to deliver five-star service to our partners from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding and Foundational Training Delivery Deliver in-person orientation sessions covering installation standards, wiring, programming basics, and safety protocols for all new Dallas technicians and subcontractors. Conduct a structured skills assessment for every new hire within their first two weeks and build a documented individual development plan. Review progress against individual plans at 30, 60, and 90 days, updating milestones based on real performance data.
Spearhead the Safety Deputy Program Maintain and enhance the Safety Deputy Program to identify, train, and empower Safety Deputies within technician teams to reinforce a daily safety culture. Implement monthly safety audits and feedback loops to ensure consistent execution and continuous improvement across all sites. Ongoing & In-Field Training Execution Conduct regular in-field ride-alongs and job-site training sessions to reinforce technical quality across all experience levels.
Observe and correct installation, wiring, and programming practices in real time, responding to field issues and callbacks with targeted coaching. , dashboards, checklists, digital trackers) to streamline daily tasks, certification tracking, and readiness reviews. Launch recurring training cadences and cross-training programs to enhance technician agility, reduce downtime, and boost on-the-job confidence.
Define and Scale Technical Standards Create detailed, version-controlled documentation for key technician procedures and best practices, ensuring clarity and consistency across all teams. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to pilot and roll out new standards, incorporating field feedback and updating SOPs accordingly. Support Operations leaders in evaluating and leveling technician candidates via field assessments before offers are extended, providing documented hiring feedback.
Qualifications
Degree in Training and Development, Technical Education, or a related field (preferred). OSHA 10/30 Certified, Lift Certifications and industry trainings. 5+ years of experience in training, technical instruction, or technician development, preferably in low-voltage, AV, commercial security systems, or structured cabling industries.
Strong understanding of safety standards, compliance, and technical workflows in a security & field-based environment. Proficiency with tools like ConnectWise, SiteOwl, various dashboards and other digital trackers for project management and documentation. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse audiences and build trust.
Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
