We’re Looking For A(n): Data Analytics Intern Location: Remote What You’ll Be Doing: The Data Analytics Intern supports the Golden Pet Brands Data Team in delivering timely, accurate insights across our portfolio of pet brands.
This role assists with ad hoc analyses, reporting and dashboard maintenance, data quality and database management, and the development of AI-assisted analytics workflows. The position exists to expand the Data Team's capacity to serve business stakeholders, from brand managers to executives, while giving the intern hands-on experience with a modern data stack (BigQuery, Rill, Tableau) and real-world applications of AI in analytics. Perform ad hoc data analyses and data pulls in response to requests from brand teams, territory managers, finance, and other business stakeholders, delivering clear, accurate summaries of findings.
Write and validate SQL queries against the company data warehouse (BigQuery) to support reporting, analysis, and data quality checks. Assist with maintenance and quality assurance of dashboards and reports across the BI stack (Rill, Tableau, Looker), including validating metrics against source-of-truth definitions. Support data governance and enablement efforts, including documenting metric definitions, data sources, and analytical workflows for internal reference.
Contribute to the development and testing of AI-assisted analytics workflows and automation, helping quantify time savings and improve team efficiency. Assist with intake, triage, and fulfillment of data requests submitted through the team's ticketing system (Jira), ensuring timely follow-up and clear communication with requesters. Perform data cleaning, organization, and audit tasks to maintain the accuracy and integrity of key datasets.
Prepare summary workbooks, presentations, and other shareable deliverables for internal stakeholders, including executive audiences.
Qualifications
): Working knowledge of SQL and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar) and Python a plus. Interest in AI tools and their application to analytics workflows. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy — validates numbers before sharing and asks clarifying questions rather than guessing.
Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into concrete, answerable analyses. Clear written communication; able to summarize findings for non-technical and executive audiences. Organized and self-directed; manages multiple requests and deadlines with a service-oriented mindset.
Discretion in handling confidential business and customer data. Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or a related field.
