Our service engineers provide the vital gameplay backbone of our games. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our game designers, product teams, and client developers to deliver industry-leading gaming experiences to players globally.
About The Team (Game Services)
The Game Services team is the systems-level powerhouse of RubyPlay's engineering department. The team is responsible for architecting, optimizing, and scaling the core backend game services, data processing pipelines, and distributed simulation engines that power our global platforms. You will collaborate closely with the engineering leads across our numerous creative studios in a highly specialized, close-knit team of engineers distributed globally.
Your core objective will be to expand backend systems bandwidth, design highly scalable service architectures, optimize existing systems, and build next-generation distributed simulation engines. Scalable Systems & Service Engineering Architect Scalable Game Services: Design, implement, and optimize highly transactional, scalable, and low-latency server-side game services and APIs using Modern Java (Java 17/21+) to handle high-concurrency transactions and game states. Translate Specifications: Work directly with domain experts and mathematicians to translate mathematical specifications and formulas into extremely performant and scalable backend services.
Standardize Core Services: Collaborate to standardize core calculation logic and business rules into reusable backend components. Systems-Level Architecture: Drive clean design patterns to build robust and highly maintainable core service layers, with a strong focus on high-throughput performance. Collaborative Development: Actively participate in code reviews, share best practices, and support the team's growth.
Performance Tuning & Simulations Distributed Simulations: Build, scale, and maintain high-volume simulation frameworks in Modern Java to run calculations at scale. Service Optimization & Testing: Focus on writing unit tests, optimizing service performance, and ensuring high-quality, reliable, and performant backend services.
Qualifications
& Experience Modern Java Mastery: 4+ years of professional software development experience, with expert-level proficiency in Modern Java (Java 17/21+). High-Throughput & Scalable Services: Proven experience designing, building, and optimizing distributed and high-throughput backend services. Nice-to-Have / Pluses Mathematical Foundations: Academic or practical background in probability, statistics, or general mathematical modeling.
Scripting Skills: Familiarity with scripting languages for data verification, automation, or validation pipelines. Database Optimization: Production experience with relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL structures for partitioning and high-concurrency data persistence. AI-Assisted Development: Experience leveraging AI-driven tooling and workflows, such as GitHub Copilot or LLM-integrated agents, to drive engineering velocity and modernize existing codebases.
