About The Role
Stratom is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to support the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced robotic and ground vehicle systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving and working across the full development process—from creating CAD models and drawings to building prototypes, supporting testing, and improving designs for production. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to develop reliable mechanical systems while growing technical expertise in vehicle design, manufacturing, and product development.
Education + Experience Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 3–5 years of professional experience designing mechanical systems, components, or products. Experience with internships, research, or hands-on engineering projects may be considered.

Required Qualifications
Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies from concept through prototype or production. Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software, including:3D modeling Engineering drawings GD&T fundamentals Assembly design Understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Experience designing or supporting mechanical systems involving: Sheet metal Welded structures Machined components Standard mechanical hardware Specifying COTS component selection and coatings or corrosion mitigation.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and support component inspection. Experience with prototype assembly, troubleshooting, and hands-on testing. Familiarity with engineering analysis, including basic structural calculations or FEA.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate across engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ground vehicles, robotics, or electromechanical systems. Familiarity with hydraulic systems and mechanical power transmission. Experience with material selection, coatings, and corrosion protection.
Experience supporting fabrication, machining, or prototype builds ·Exposure to electrical integration, sensors, or autonomous systems. Experience developing test plans and documenting validation results. Experience with defense or government related development programs.
Soft Skills Strong problem-solving skills and engineering judgment. Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills. Collaborative team member with a hands-on approach.
Willingness to learn and take ownership of engineering challenges.
