Summary The Hospice Data Entry & Finance Intern provides administrative, financial, and data entry support to the hospice organization by accurately entering information into company systems, assisting with billing, expense processing, claims support, and finance-related administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Entry • Accurately enter patient, employee, vendor, financial, and operational data into company systems. • Verify data for completeness and accuracy before entry. • Update databases and electronic records.
• Scan, upload, and organize documents into electronic files. • Maintain confidential records in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Finance & Accounting Support • Assist with daily finance and accounting administrative functions.
• Process vendor invoices and expense reports. • Verify invoices against supporting documentation. • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Reconcile financial records and assist with correcting discrepancies. • Maintain organized financial files and documentation. • Assist with preparing financial spreadsheets and reports.
• Support monthly financial closing activities as assigned. Billing & Expense Processing • Process invoices, bills, reimbursements, and expense documentation. • Assist with maintaining accurate expense records.
• Track outstanding invoices and payment status. • Help prepare billing summaries and financial reports. • Ensure documentation is complete before processing payments.
Claims Processing Support • Assist with reviewing hospice insurance claims for completeness. • Verify required documentation prior to claim submission. • Help monitor claim status and document follow-up activities.
• Assist in resolving missing documentation and denied claims. • Maintain claims tracking logs and reports. Administrative Support • Answer incoming calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, spreadsheets, and other documents. • Maintain office filing systems and records. • Assist with scheduling meetings and administrative projects.
• Support special projects within Finance and Billing.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Medical Office Administration, or a related field. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements
/ Working Conditions • This role is am office-based. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods. May involve occasional lifting or movement of materials for volunteer training or events.
