Electrical Engineering Lecturer 'B'

37 Hours per Week, Permanent You understand electrical engineering. Now help students build the knowledge, skill and confidence to use it well. Engineering needs people who can think, solve problems and apply technical knowledge with confidence.

That starts with good teaching. As our Electrical Engineering Lecturer, you’ll teach across Electrical and Electronic Engineering provision at our Pagefield Centre of Engineering Excellence. You’ll work with learners from Level 3 through to higher-level study, including BEng(Hons) degree-level provision where required.

Your focus will include electrical power, helping students understand the principles, systems and professional standards that sit behind good engineering practice. You bring strong technical knowledge, current industry understanding and the ability to help learners connect theory with real engineering work. Teach Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes from Level 3 to higher-level study.

Deliver practical and theory-based learning with a focus on electrical power. Help students understand engineering principles, systems and workplace expectations. Use your industry experience to make learning current and relevant.

Assess learner progress and give clear feedback that helps students improve. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, progress and achievement. Support learners to progress into apprenticeships, employment, further study or higher education.

Contribute to curriculum development, programme review and quality improvement. Work with colleagues to keep specialist learning environments safe, organised and effective. Support Open Evenings, recruitment activity and college events where required.

A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Power or a related engineering discipline. Current or recent industry experience in electrical engineering or a related technical field. Strong technical knowledge of electrical power and wider engineering practice.

Experience teaching, training, coaching, mentoring or supporting others. A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one. Level 2 English and maths, or willingness to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.

Confidence explaining complex technical ideas clearly. Good organisation and the ability to monitor learner progress. Experience delivering Level 3 engineering provision would be helpful.

Experience with HNC, HND or degree-level engineering provision would be an advantage. What you’re like Technically strong. You understand electrical engineering and can help others understand it too.
