Electrical Engineering Trainer/Assessor

2 Hours per Week, Permanent You know what good electrical engineering looks like. Now help apprentices prove it. An apprenticeship is built in the workplace.

It is where apprentices apply their knowledge, develop professional habits and build the evidence that shows they are ready for the next stage. As our Electrical Engineering Assessor, you’ll support apprentices in college and with employers, helping them make progress towards Gateway and End Point Assessment. You’ll review evidence, carry out workplace assessments, complete progress reviews and give clear feedback that helps apprentices understand what they need to do next.

This role is about more than checking paperwork. You’ll help apprentices connect what they learn with what they do at work.

Qualifications

Assess workplace evidence through observations, professional discussions and portfolio reviews. Help apprentices prepare for Gateway and End Point Assessment. Set clear targets and provide feedback that supports progress.

Maintain accurate records using OneFile and other college systems. Identify apprentices who need additional support and act early. Work with employers to create opportunities for apprentices to develop competence.

Support quality assurance, standardisation and audit activity. Keep your electrical engineering knowledge current and connected to industry practice. A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Relevant industry experience within electrical engineering. An assessor qualification, or willingness to achieve one with our support. Strong knowledge of safe working practice in engineering environments.

The ability to coach, mentor or support others to develop. Confidence working with employers and workplace mentors. Good organisation and accurate record keeping.

Confidence using digital systems, or willingness to learn. Understanding of apprenticeships, Gateway, EPA or vocational assessment would be helpful, but we can support you to develop this knowledge. What you’re like Industry credible.
