Position Overview The Salesforce Architect / Technical Product Owner will lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-quality Salesforce solutions within the Global CRM team, while also managing and mentoring other Salesforce professionals on the team.
This is a hands-on, player-coach role: the individual will personally architect solutions and stay close to the platform, while also owning team leadership, prioritization, and stakeholder relationships. This person will act as the primary bridge between technology and business stakeholders, shaping product vision, translating business needs into technical solutions, and driving delivery of high-impact Salesforce initiatives.

, build application and process specifications, scope and estimate work, coordinate with delivery teams, and ensure work is prioritized by business value and aligned to StepStone's broader technical strategy. Essential Job Functions: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Salesforce professionals (admins, developers, analysts), setting technical direction and reviewing their work for quality and best practice.
Evaluate and recommend the right build approach for each need: declarative tools (Flows, Lightning App Builder, Reports/Dashboards) vs. custom development (Apex, Lightning Components) vs. purchasing an existing AppExchange or third-party solution, balancing speed, cost, and long-term maintainability.
Identify and implement opportunities to use AI to drive process efficiencies across Salesforce-supported workflows. Scope projects and provide effort/timeline estimates for prioritization and roadmap planning. Manage delivery using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies as appropriate to the project.
Integrate third-party systems with Salesforce using REST/SOAP APIs, and enterprise ETL tools. Partner with business stakeholders to translate desired outcomes into technical specifications and a project plan covering business decisions, configuration changes, and dependencies. Own and groom the Salesforce product backlog in collaboration with stakeholders and delivery teams.
Review existing and proposed solutions, recommending improvements to design, performance, and scalability. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Salesforce and its integrations. Participate in release management, evaluating new and upcoming Salesforce features and recommending changes that maximize platform value.
Ensure best practices are followed across technical design, security settings, and email deliverability. Oversee resolution of Salesforce user support requests, including SLA tracking in the case management system. Serve as a backup to other CRM team members and support broader Salesforce team projects and initiatives.
