WHAT YOU'LL SEE (AND WHAT YOU WON'T) Typical cases: GI Issues (vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite) Lethargy, limping, minor injuries Allergic reactions, skin and ear infections Bite wounds, abscesses, wounds, lacerations Urinary or constipation issues Coughing and sneezing Quality of Life Assessments What we defer to primary veterinarians or emergency and specialty centers: Preventative wellness visits, dentistry or vaccinations ICU-level case management and overnight hospitalization All critical cases are stabilized and transferred when appropriate We also have the capability to perform emergency soft-tissue surgeries on stabilized patients if you enjoy surgery or have an interest in learning. SUPPORT TEAM You’ll work alongside an experienced ER veterinarian who provides mentorship, collaboration, and a second set of eyes when needed. Our emergency trained support team is highly skilled and actively monitors your schedule for potential life-threatening cases that should be deferred, allowing you to stay focused on practicing medicine rather than managing every step of the workflow.
Our team also helps protect your time during the day. You are not expected to manage incoming calls; our cross-trained support staff handles client communication and can triage concerns, escalating to the doctor only when appropriate. This allows you to stay present with your patients.
As a teaching hospital, we’re passionate about giving back to the profession. We support externships for veterinary students, technicians, and even high school students exploring careers in veterinary medicine; adding a meaningful layer of purpose beyond the day-to-day work.
