What You’Ll Do
The DRAM Development Lab (DDL) is part of Samsung’s Memory Business Unit, the industry's technology and volume leader in DRAM, HBM and NAND Flash. DDL’s vision is to solve key problems of Cloud Data center by developing the new technology for memory and storage. The Embedded Solution Software (ESS) team within DDL focuses on the development of cutting-edge firmware solutions for embedded memory technologies, including custom high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
We are currently looking for an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA. The Candidate will be a key technical member of DDL, Embedded Solution Software (ESS) team. He or she will join a team of experts in researching and developing next generation memory solutions.
Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose office/headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy Job ID : 42959 Research next generation memory solution architectures, features to design, develop firmware Work on firmware development activities such as architecture, code development, validation, lab bring-up, and performance fine-tuning Collaborate with software, firmware, and hardware teams for new features and technology development Collaborate and work with potential customers and partners for technology development Validate new hardware IPs in a virtual environment and develop HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) API libraries Develop Embedded Memory Solution software with RTOS What You Bring BS. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 5+ years working experience Solid understanding of storage technologies and memory solution products Good understanding of computer architectures such as x86, ARM, RISC-V Strong programming skills with C, C++, C++11/17, Python Experience with firmware development for ARM core using hardware debuggers (JTAG) Hands-on experience with hardware board bring-up, server system integration and software stack integration Good understanding of one or more technologies and protocols such as: PCIe, UCIe Experience with version control system (github, gitlab, bitbucket), code review process, and project management tools Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams, including coordinating across organizational boundaries and geographies You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.
