The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and scalability of the organization's technology infrastructure.
This role designs, implements, and supports on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments while proactively minimizing downtime, mitigating risks, and maintaining operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with server, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies and will serve as a technical lead for infrastructure initiatives. This individual must be capable of translating complex technical issues into clear business recommendations for leadership while maintaining comprehensive documentation of infrastructure architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, maintain, and optimize physical and virtual server environments, including VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms. Administer and support cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services. Manage enterprise storage systems, replication technologies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery platforms.
Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, performance, and availability to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency. Serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation resource for complex server, storage, cloud, networking, and identity management issues. Lead infrastructure projects including system migrations, cloud adoption initiatives, hardware refreshes, and technology upgrades.
Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for on-premises systems, Azure workloads, virtual machines, and Microsoft 365 environments. Implement and maintain security best practices, including vulnerability remediation, patch management, access controls, and Active Directory administration. Manage and support enterprise monitoring and reporting tools such as Varonis, ManageEngine, Dell iDRAC/OpenManage, and related platforms.
Maintain accurate network diagrams, topology maps, hardware inventories, configuration documentation, and standard operating procedures. Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to resolve infrastructure issues and improve system performance. Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and emergency response efforts as required.
