Associate Engineer / Engineer – Software (MATLAB/Simulink)

Based at the Hethel Engineering Centre, you’ll contribute to exciting projects that shape the future of vehicle development and driver-in-the-loop simulation. We are looking for an Associate Engineer / Software Engineer with experience in MATLAB/Simulink to join our growing R&D team. In this role, you will support the design, development, integration, and maintenance of models and software applications within a real-time simulation environment.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to high-quality software development, testing, and continuous improvement of simulation systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 1–3 years of experience looking to develop their career within advanced engineering and simulation.

Key Responsibilities

include: Design, develop, and maintain models using MATLAB / Simulink Produce clean, robust, and maintainable code aligned with development standards Take ownership of assigned components or features Collaborate with modelling, integration, and systems engineers to deliver project milestones Participate in code reviews and implement feedback Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects Support integration, testing, and real-time simulation activities Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor progress and escalate risks or issues when required Occasional travel to support integration or project activities Essential Degree (BSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field Experience using MATLAB / Simulink Understanding of real-time systems Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Desirable Automotive engineering experience or strong interest Experience with Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulators Interest in vehicle dynamics, cars, or driving simulation Knowledge of EtherCAT / TwinCAT (Beckhoff) Exposure to simulation or control systems environments Personal Attributes Methodical and detail-oriented approach Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Team player with a collaborative mindset Proactive, organised, and accountable Willingness to learn and grow technically Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment You'll work on cutting-edge simulation technology used by leading automotive brands Be part of an innovative and highly skilled R&D team Opportunities for career development and technical growth Exposure to real-time systems and advanced engineering challenges Collaborative and supportive working environment We are part of the AB Dynamics Group, an innovative, dynamic listed business with a friendly and supportive working environment.
