The Opportunity We are seeking a skilled, student-centered 2nd Grade Teacher to teach all core content areas and create a joyful, structured, and academically ambitious classroom. The teacher will deliver standards-based instruction in literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning using EL Education for ELA and Eureka² Math for mathematics . Second grade is a pivotal year when students strengthen foundational skills, deepen their understanding of grade-level content, and grow as increasingly confident and independent learners.

The ideal candidate brings strong early elementary instructional practice, excellent classroom management, and a deep belief in the brilliance and potential of young children. What You’Ll Do

Instruction Student Support Teach standards-based lessons in all core content areas, including ELA, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning Create a structured, engaging classroom culture with clear expectations, strong routines, and high levels of student engagement and accountability Build strong foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing Support students in developing number sense, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and confidence as mathematicians Differentiate instruction to meet a range of student needs, including intervention, acceleration, and enrichment Support students’ social-emotional growth and help them develop the skills needed to be successful learners and community members Planning, Assessment Data Use Internalize and prepare purposeful lessons aligned to grade-level standards and curriculum expectations Use student work, formative assessments, and summative data to adjust instruction and monitor progress Identify reading and writing strengths, misconceptions, and gaps in order to plan targeted support Collaboration and Family Engagement Collaborate with grade-level, content, special education, multilingual learner, and leadership teams to support student success Partner with families to communicate student progress, strengths, and areas for growth Contribute to a positive school culture rooted in care, accountability, and sha
