Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager - Transportation to join our team in either Huntsville or Birmingham, AL . This role supports our continued growth and offers the opportunity to work on (or support) meaningful projects alongside a collaborative, experienced team.
You’ll have the chance to build your career while contributing to impactful solutions across the communities we serve. Support the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects, with a primary focus on roadway design, while assisting with projects involving traffic engineering, multimodal planning, and related services. Assist with project management activities, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Contribute to business development efforts by supporting proposal preparation, identifying potential opportunities, and assisting in maintaining client relationships with municipalities, counties, and state agencies.
Requirements
Participate in QA/QC processes to help ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and technically sound work products. Coordinate with internal teams—including Planning, Survey, Environmental, H&H, Structural, and Construction—to support integrated project delivery. Provide technical support during project development and, as needed, assist with construction-phase services and field coordination.
Collaborate with senior staff and leadership to implement project strategies and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and deliverables. Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, designers, and technicians, supporting team development and knowledge sharing. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of four years of relevant experience. Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) preferred. Ability to obtain PE within six months of hiring, required.
Ability to obtain licensure in additional states where Waggoner practices, as needed. , PTOE, PMP, DBIA) are a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local engineering regulations and design standards for transportation projects. Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Understanding of construction processes and practices to support constructability and field coordination.
