Position Overview The Sewing Machine Mechanic will be responsible for performing setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on industrial sewing machines.
What You'Ll Do
Perform setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on industrial sewing machines. Make unscheduled repairs on production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance during machine servicing. Read and interpret manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust equipment. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment. Ensure proper use and maintenance of production equipment.
Assist in training sewing machine operators in the proper setup and operation of machines. Comply with all facility safety rules and regulations. Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to your supervisor. Maintain floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities. Communicate to management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.
Wear required personal protective equipment properly and report any defective PPE. Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, or illnesses, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Who You Are
High school graduate Technical training 2 years’ related experience in sewing and production machines Minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical knowledge are preferred OSHA certified Able to use and read a tape measure General knowledge of fabrics and hand cutting of fabrics Ability to use production equipment Ability to use hand and power tools Capable of standing for extended periods of time Capable of lifting on a continuous basis Strong attention to details Follow written and verbal instructions What's in it for you?
