SUMMARY Evaluates, prepares, routes, crimps, tapes, wraps, and braids wires to form wire harness used in aerospace and military electrical and electronic systems by performing the following duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reads and interprets instructions such as work orders, diagrams, schematics, drawings, and wire lists to determine materials needed, sequence and method of assembly.
Selects wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines, locator blocks or sequential numbers on board or diagram. Wraps and tapes wires together into a cable to form harness that is uniform in diameter and of high-quality workmanship. Attaches ends of wires to contact pins by crimping or installs contact pins into connector plugs or installs terminal lugs into junction box.
Inserts cable in plastic tubing or injects sealant around terminals pins to protect cable from dust and moisture.
This position has no supervisory
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be able to maintain a clear status on random drug program.

Requirements
Layup wire, tape and assemble the harnesses to demand and maintain inventory levels as specified by management. Pull parts for orders and future orders as required. ) Support other departments within the organization as directed by management.
( When the need arises the Wire Harness Assembler may have to work in the Hose Shop or the Warehouse ). Knowledgeable and can test wire harnesses per CMM and/or Herber procedures as defined, which includes, but is not limited to, contact resistance, continuity, dielectric withstanding voltage (HiPot), insulation resistance, shorts test, pin injection, and shielding. Documents results of test on required paperwork per instructions.
