Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida Travel: As required by project assignment Position Summary The EHS Specialist II is an experienced safety professional with 5–10+ years of field and program management experience in heavy civil, environmental, industrial, or similarly complex work environments. This role supports high-profile and high-demand projects where exceptional safety performance is critical.

The EHS Specialist II serves as a key onsite safety leader—conducting and leading audits, guiding project teams through HASP development, facilitating incident investigations, conducting advanced training, and coaching personnel at all levels. This position demonstrates strong technical competency, decisive field judgment, and the ability to mentor junior safety professionals while reinforcing Forgen’s Incident and Injury Free (IIF) philosophy. Key Responsibilities

Champion Forgen’s Core Values and drive an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture across assigned projects. Provide advanced EHS leadership and support to high-risk or high-visibility projects. Lead site safety inspections, field audits, and complex hazard assessments; ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Develop, review, and refine project HASPs and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs). Lead or assist complex incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development. Serve as a key liaison between Forgen, subcontractors, clients, regulators, and third-party auditors.

Mentor and support EHS Specialists I, EHS Technicians, and site personnel.

Requirements

Manage EHS Insights reporting accuracy, data quality, and performance metrics. Conduct advanced air monitoring, sampling, equipment calibration, and industrial hygiene tasks. Lead weekly project walkthroughs with project leadership and provide risk-based recommendations.

Oversee maintenance of certifications, medical screenings, and training tracking for assigned personnel. Manage PPE needs, procurement, and inventory at the project level. Participate in compliance assurance audits, corporate assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support development of safety policies, training materials, and best practices. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Construction, or a related field. 5–10+ years of progressive safety experience in heavy civil, environmental, industrial, mining, oil gas, or comparable high-risk environments. Proven ability to lead field teams and influence safety culture.

Strong communication, coaching, and facilitation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems. S.

Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required.
