ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND The Maritime Aquarium’s mission is to ignite a connection to Long Island Sound and the ocean to enrich the lives of all people and inspire action to protect our blue planet. For 38 years, the Aquarium has played a significant role in shaping the landscape of Norwalk and the region. The second largest family attraction in Connecticut, and 50 miles from New York City, the Aquarium hosts nearly 450,000 guests annually.
Its primary exhibits take guests on a voyage from the shallow salt marshes and estuaries to the depths of the Long Island Sound and the ocean beyond, culminating with habitats for sharks and harbor seals. Altogether, the Aquarium is home to more than 8,000 animals and 285 species in 75 exhibits. A new 4D Theater offers a unique sensory film experience for guests.
Its education programs introduce nearly 50,000 students, campers and scouts to marine and STEM education. The Aquarium is recognized as a top aquarium in the nation and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It is an active participant in the local and regional community.
The strength of the Aquarium is its approximately 97 full-time and 78 part-time employees, seasonal staff, and our volunteers. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Security Guard executes internal facility safety and security functions. The primary focus of this role is to ensure a secure facility for guests, staff, volunteers, and our animal collection.
This role ensures the standards of security and safety per OSHA regulations as well as the Association of Zoos and Aquariums are met or exceeded. 00 an hour.

Requirements
procedures for safeguarding the facility, staff, volunteers and animal collection in accordance with Post Orders Responds to emergency situations, conducts investigations and completes incident reports Administer safety audits and inspections Submit inspection reports and records daily and advise the Safety Manager of deficiencies Monitors the security camera system throughout scheduled shifts Assist in ensuring 24/7 security coverage of the facility Responsible for receiving and delivery of packages Assist with TMA lost and found program, and acts as the point of contact for guest retrieval of items Other duties as assigned SCHEDULE
: Weekend and Weekday availability required. The schedule for the Security Guard will vary dependent on the needs of the business to ensure 24/7 coverage of the facility, open availability for all shifts, and days of the week is preferred for holiday, vacation, and sick time coverage of the team. Schedule is posted to the extent possible, 4 weeks in advance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years of security experience. Demonstrated knowledge of security operations, safety practices and incident investigation in a public institution.
