A BOUT THE ROLE Techno is looking for a Deputy Force Account Manager to support major rail and transportation infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey.
This role will assist in overseeing force account construction activities within active railroad environments, supporting coordination between project teams, field personnel, railroad operations, and multiple stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient project execution. The ideal candidate has strong experience working within live rail or transit environments and understands the operational, scheduling, and coordination challenges associated with construction activities occurring alongside active service operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Support daily management and coordination of force account construction activities within active railroad and transit environments. Coordinate with railroad operations, dispatch, field personnel, contractors, and project leadership to support safe and efficient work execution.
Requirements
Monitor force account labor, equipment usage, materials, productivity, and construction progress throughout project activities. Support schedule tracking, budget monitoring, forecasting, and reporting related to force account work activities. Assist with change management processes including evaluation, documentation, and tracking of scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
Participate in coordination meetings, constructability reviews, operational planning sessions, and field inspections.
Support testing, commissioning, system integration, and operational readiness activities where applicable. Coordinate with railroad departments including track, signals, communications, traction power, and operations teams to support integrated project delivery. Prepare reports related to safety, field activities, labor tracking, outage coordination, and project status updates.
Serve as a delegate for the Force Account Manager when required to support continuity of operations and decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. 8+ years of experience supporting railroad, transit, heavy civil, or transportation construction projects. Experience working within active railroad or transit operating environments required.
Strong understanding of force account coordination, railroad operations, track access planning, and construction sequencing. Familiarity with scheduling, budgeting, construction management, and change control processes. Experience coordinating outages, possessions, dispatch communication, or work window activities strongly preferred.
Knowledge of railroad safety procedures, FRA regulations, roadway worker protection (RWP), and operating rules preferred. Experience supporting rail systems integration, testing, or commissioning activities is a plus.
