How You Will Make an Impact: As a Senior Cost Accountant , you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and insightfulness of our product costing and inventory valuation processes. This position partners closely with operations and finance leadership to drive informed decision-making through detailed cost analysis, while maintaining and optimizing systems that support inventory, fixed assets, and overall financial performance.
Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, analysis, and reporting of gross margin by product line, location, and customer segment Support the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and analyzing inventory and fixed asset activity Maintain and enhance cost accounting systems, ensuring accurate inventory valuation and cost tracking Partner in the implementation and optimization of ERP systems, specifically related to costing, inventory, and fixed asset modules Ensure compliance with SOX controls related to inventory and fixed asset processes; support documentation and control testing Analyze cost data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability Oversee and participate in cycle counts and physical inventory processes to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial records Review and analyze inventory and margin reports; conduct ad hoc cost and profitability analyses to support business decisions Perform periodic impairment reviews and assist with Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) analysis and reporting Support internal and external reporting

, including audit support, tax schedules, and property tax filings Ensure timely, accurate delivery of inventory and margin reporting to leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing, mining, or a similar industry Hands-on experience with mid-to-large ERP systems (Epicor preferred) Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and build financial models Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Effective communicator with the ability to partner cross-functionally Reporting Relationship: Reports To: Accounting Manager, Ops - Accounting Work Location Location: Austin, Texas Schedule/Work Arrangement: Monday – Friday Physical Demands: Primarily office-based role with extended periods of sitting and working at a computer Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move throughout office or operational facilities May require occasional travel to plants, warehouses, or field locations, including outdoor environments Ability to lift up to 15–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files or equipment) Visual acuity required for detailed data analysis and computer-based work Ability to work in varying environments, including exposure to noise, dust, or industrial settings during site visits How You Will Stand Out Experience in the mining, energy, or industrial manufacturing industry Proven success supporting ERP implementations or system upgrades Deep understanding of inventory costing methodologies (standard cost, weighted average, etc.) Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders Continuous improvement
