A Category Manager at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Procurement team supporting efforts of the overall strategy, growth, and performance of the category. This position involves strategy, analytics, and interdepartmental collaboration and is ideal for someone who has strategic skills, leadership skills, and is detail orientated.
Sales and Marketing Strategy ManagementBudget and devise sales and execution plans for the category, covering periodical, product form, customer, branch, price, and cost considerations. Drive category placements and eliminate unprofitable items to optimize sales effectiveness. Develop marketing campaigns aligned with sales strategies to support market penetration and product positioning.
Market Analysis and ForecastingMonitor market dynamics, communicate changing conditions, and develop price forecasts for market drivers. Provide regular updates and talking points to the sales team to keep them informed and competitive. Analyze sales performance to ensure margin accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement.

Manage seasonal pricing strategies based on harvest cycles, import volumes, and market volatility. Identify and expand opportunities in value-added crab products (picked meat, clusters, ready-to-eat formats). Partner with processing teams to manage yield performance, recovery rates, and product form optimization.
Oversee species-specific quality risks (shell condition, meat fill, cook yields, shelf life). Drive decisions on buy/freeze vs. fresh sales strategy based on market timing and risk.
Requirements (Seasonality, Quotas, Traceability, COOl)
Track and forecast crab harvest seasons, quotas, and fishery openings/closures. Monitor global crab market dynamics, including import trends and supply disruptions. Forecast demand tied to seasonal consumption events (holidays, Lent, summer peaks).
Analyze landed cost volatility and support forward-buy/commitment strategies. Train sales teams on crab species differentiation, sizing, and seasonal availability. Educate on handling, shelf life, and shrink risks across fresh and frozen crab.
Partner with sales to improve yield awareness and profitability at the customer level. Support customer-facing education on crab sourcing, quality, and sustainability.
