The Opportunity We are now recruiting for a Structural Manager for our Adlington office. The Structural Manager is to lead the Structural discipline by setting clear technical direction, ensuring strong governance, and overseeing all structural deliverables so they meet required standards of safety, code compliance, quality, and cost efficiency. The role owns the development and continual improvement of structural design processes, drives accuracy and consistency across the team.
The Structural Manager ensures effective integration with other engineering functions. You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence. • Provide technical leadership, support, and mentoring to Engineers and Designers.
Requirements
• Promote value engineering, standardisation, risk reduction, and a right-first-time approach. • Support Project and Bid teams with information and guidance (steel weights, configurations, engineering time, and concept designs) • Identify variations to contractual scope and escalate to the Project team. • Attend project model / design reviews.
with supplementary information as required. • Undertake site surveys and prepare reports on findings to support successful delivery of projects. • Responsible for the rectification and implementation of long-term preventative measures resulting from any NCR raised against the department.
• Participate & contribute to any lessons learned and continuous improvement meetings. • Lead the development of processes to improve efficiency and project delivery. • Identify suitable sub-contractor supply chain assessing competence to perform scopes.
• Responsible for verifying sub-contractor output is correct in accordance with scope provided by Project Engineering. • Responsible for the definition, adherence, and continual review of all ISO 9001 procedures and templates relating to discipline, supporting internal and external audits as required. • Engage with the performance review process and take actions to address areas for improvement.
• Ensure personal objectives are completed in a timely manner and drive overall departmental/ business objectives year-on-year. • Maintain alignment with company values and vision. • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required, and as commensurate with the grade of post.
• Degree qualified in a Civil or Structural engineering. (minimum BEng) • Chartered Engineer status (preferably ICE or IStructE) • Experience within Structural Engineering field along with experience at senior / principal level. g.
towers, trestles, gantries, silos, retaining structures). • Structural analytical software knowledge (STAAD Pro preferred). • Able to interpret site investigation reports and identify implications.
• Understanding of load cases and combinations, and ability to deduce that structures are behaving as intended through calculation and/or analysis. • Understanding of the design process, and its associated documentation.
