Trilon Group — Maumee, Ohio
The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is a people-focused, award-winning, full-service consulting firm offering civil and geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, planning, landscape architecture, agriculture, surveying, and construction support. Our talented team of 650+ professionals delivers integrated planning, design, engineering, and construction solutions. Work on Projects Most Engineers Never Get To MSG is growing, and we're looking for a Landfill Engineer to join our team in Maumee, OH.
This isn't your typical civil engineering role — you'll be working in a niche, high-demand specialty (landfill gas management and solid waste permitting) that most engineers never get exposure to, which means real differentiation for your career down the line. If you like the idea of doing technical work that's actually a little unusual, this is it. And we back that growth with more than an interesting project list: this role comes with a guaranteed seat in Blueprint , our new early career leadership program for engineers looking to grow beyond the typical entry-level experience.
Over six months, you'll take part in a hands-on curriculum covering professional development, business acumen, and project delivery — including case studies, simulations, and role-play exercises — covering topics like project economics, communication, and leadership fundamentals. It all wraps up with an in-person capstone event where you'll present your work and map out your goals for the year ahead. Your Future Starts With A Plan.
Support solid waste management design and permitting — work that directly shapes how communities handle waste and environmental compliance Contribute to solid waste construction oversight as projects move into the field Take on project assignments primarily across Ohio, with occasional out-of-state opportunities for those who want the variety Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; landfill gas management design and permitting experience is a plus, but not required to start Familiarity with Ohio Air Pollution Rules is a strong plus 2–5 years of experience in general site civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering; working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred — entry-level candidates are genuinely encouraged to apply, and we mean it! EIT certification with a goal toward PE licensure is a plus, not a requirement We'd rather train someone motivated than pass on real potential — prior design and construction experience helps, but isn't a dealbreaker Strong organizational and time management skills, with an eye for detail, will help you thrive here 401(k) with company match Health insurance with HSA option, Vision, Dental, Life Flexible schedule Paid time off Referral program Tuition reimbursement Catalytic Coaching — a personalized development plan built to grow your contributions today and your opportunities tomorrow. At MSG, bringing out the best in our people isn't a slogan — it's how we operate.
