Trilon Group — Cleveland, Ohio
The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is a people-focused, award-winning, full-service consulting firm offering civil and geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, planning, landscape architecture, agriculture, surveying, and construction support. Our talented team of 650+ professionals delivers integrated planning, design, engineering, and construction solutions to clients from our offices throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Alabama. Design the Places Where Life Happens MSG is growing, and we're looking for a Civil Engineer who wants to be in the room where projects actually come together — not just watching from the hallway.
You'll work alongside senior staff, licensed engineers, and fellow junior engineers on commercial, residential, industrial, energy, and water/wastewater projects across the Midwest. One week you might be knee-deep in stormwater modeling; the next, coordinating with five different disciplines to keep a project on track. If you like variety (and a little organized chaos), you'll fit right in.
That investment in your growth is backed by more than good intentions: this role comes with a guaranteed seat in Blueprint , our new early career leadership program for engineers looking to grow beyond the typical entry-level experience. Over six months, you'll take part in a hands-on curriculum covering professional development, business acumen, and project delivery — including case studies, simulations, and role-play exercises — covering topics like project economics, communication, and leadership fundamentals. It all wraps up with an in-person capstone event where you'll present your work and map out your goals for the year ahead.
Your Future Starts With A Plan. Team up with senior staff and licensed engineers to design and prepare plans for a wide range of commercial, residential, industrial, energy, water/wastewater, and community projects Coordinate across MSG's many specialties — Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, and more — because good projects are never a solo act Perform and check design calculations that keep every package accurate and buildable Get involved early: feasibility documents, due diligence reports, zoning studies, stormwater modeling and design, cost estimates, and detailed design plans Get out of the office occasionally for day-travel and fieldwork (planned in advance, no surprises) Take on new tasks as they come — things move fast here, and that's part of the fun Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering 1–5 years of related experience — recent grads with strong internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D Plans to pursue FE/EIT certification soon, with your sights set on PE licensure down the road Strong communication skills and comfort working in a busy, multi-faceted team environment Flexibility and motivation — priorities here can shift quickly, and that's a feature, not a bug 401(k) with company match Health insurance with HSA option, Vision, Dental, Life Flexible schedule Paid time off Referral program Tuition reimbursement Catalytic Coaching — a personalized development plan built to grow your contributions today and your opportunities tomorrow. At MSG, bringing out the best in our people isn't a slogan — it's how we operate.
