About The Role
: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Software Engineer to be part of our Missile Defense team and based out of our Mount Laurel, NJ location. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. What You Will Do
: Provide technical input in design reviews, code reviews, and system-level engineering discussions. Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services. Lead implementation of moderately complex features, defect resolution, and system enhancements.
Promote code quality, security, and engineering best practices within the team. Lead troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis for complex technical issues. Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party systems into existing environments.
Support deployment, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Who You Are (Required)
: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience). 7+ years of professional software development experience. Strong experience developing software in one or more languages such as C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
Experience with Git or similar version control systems. Experience working in Linux-based environments. Experience supporting integration, test execution, and release activities across teams.
, PostgreSQL). Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Ability to travel up to 10% as required. What Makes You Stand Out: Knowledge of Aegis Weapon System concepts, architectures, or related combat systems.
Experience supporting development, modernization, or sustainment of complex software systems. Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices.
Experience working in Agile development environments. Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and secure software development practices. Experience with cloud-native technologies, containerization, or platform engineering concepts.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and stakeholder communication. Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and ability to independently drive technical tasks to completion.
