Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for an Industrial Hygienist to join our team. Position Description The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for industrial hygiene programs across active nuclear and construction job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA, NRC, DOE, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
This role also supports broader Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of site-wide safety programs, risk assessments, and compliance strategies.
Requirements
The role involves building scalable health and safety infrastructure as operations expand across multiple sites, with a focus on program development, data analysis, cross-functional coordination, training, and supporting overall EHS performance and culture.
Support development and maintenance of written programs (IH plans, chemical hygiene plans, respiratory protection, PPE, etc.) Prepare for and support audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions Hazard Identification & Control Partner with EHS, Engineering, and Operations teams to identify workplace hazards and implement controls using the hierarchy of controls Evaluate new processes, materials, and equipment for potential health risks Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-job planning for high-risk activities Field Support & Site Engagement Maintain strong on-site presence to support construction and operational teams Provide real-time guidance during field activities, outages, or non-routine work Build trust with frontline teams to drive proactive safety culture Program Development & Scaling Help build and standardize IH programs across multiple sites as the company grows Implement systems for exposure tracking, record-keeping, and reporting Help build and support integration of IH considerations into broader EHS and operational processes Training & Communication Deliver training on IH-related topics (chemical safety, respiratory protection, noise, heat stress, etc.) Translate technical findings into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical audiences Promote awareness of occupational health risks and prevention strategies Incident Response & Investigation Support investigations related to exposure incidents or near misses Conduct root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions Collaborate with medical and safety teams as needed
Responsibilities
may include: Exposure Assessment & Monitoring Design and execute industrial hygiene sampling plans (airborne contaminants, radiation adjunct hazards, noise, heat stress, etc.) Conduct routine and incident-driven exposure assessments across construction, commissioning, and operational environments Interpret and communicate results, recommending controls where needed Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA standards (e.g., HAZWOPER, respiratory protection, hazard communication) and NRC-related worker safety
Minimum Qualifications
: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field 5+ years of industrial hygiene experience in high-hazard environments (nuclear, energy, construction, manufacturing, or similar) Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial hygiene best practices; familiarity with NRC/DOE environments strongly preferred Experience supporting active job sites (construction, commissioning, or operations) Bonus
Qualifications
: Professional certification (CIH) strongly preferred or in progress
