HEAPY is seeking a Senior Level Plumbing Designer or Plumbing Engineer to join our Colleague First culture in a hybrid arrangement in our Raleigh office. This position will support work for the Healthcare and Education Teams.
The Senior Level Plumbing Designer/Engineer performs a variety of assignments involving the application of standard plumbing design engineering techniques for HEAPY projects. This colleague accomplishes specific objectives that involve different variables related to plumbing engineering systems in the Built Environment. In addition, they maintain a foundational understanding of fire suppression design, particularly for renovations and straightforward systems, ensuring integration with broader mechanical and plumbing scopes where applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Normally requires a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program. Equivalent experience or training may be considered in place of formal education or prior experience. Typically requires 8+ years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience/advanced degree in engineering) related to plumbing engineering systems in the Built Environment.
Experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment. Capability of exercising judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications. Experience using various computer software packages and automated plumbing engineering and design equipment.
Should be in possession of a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification and be working toward Professional Engineering (PE) Registration or Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) designation. This would be attained within the first 2 years of attaining this position level. , ask questions).
Develops full plan designs, details, and outlines, identifies materials, cost estimates, and performs calculations for a detailed segment of a project. Gathers and records information for the preparation of design specifications. Reviews/evaluates vendor (and at higher levels, approves) shop drawings, bids, and submittals to ensure compliance with specifications.
Reviews and approves plumbing design drawings for assigned segments of project. Collaborates with colleagues to perform field observations, tests, and measurements, collect field data, and prepare designs, reports, and related documentation (commensurate with level).
