West Houston Veterinary Medical Associates is seeking a Medical Director / Managing Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (MDVM) to lead our thriving small animal veterinary hospital in West Houston, Texas. Responsibilities
As our Medical Director , you'll serve as the clinical leader of the hospital while partnering with the Practice Manager and Regional Operations Manager to ensure exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, team development, and hospital growth. In this Veterinary Leadership role, you will: Lead and mentor Associate Veterinarians and veterinary support staff Foster a collaborative, positive hospital culture focused on patient care and client service Support veterinarian growth through coaching, mentorship, annual reviews, and professional development Develop and maintain medical protocols and standards of care Ensure compliance with state veterinary regulations and best medical practices Partner with hospital leadership on strategic planning and operational initiatives Drive clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement Help recruit, develop, and retain outstanding veterinary professionals Required Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school Active Texas veterinary license in good standing (or ability to obtain Texas licensure) Preferred Approximately 5+ years of companion animal clinical experience Leadership, mentorship, or Veterinary Medical Director experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong emotional intelligence and team leadership abilities Commitment to practicing high-quality, evidence-based veterinary medicine Ability to motivate, coach, and develop veterinary teams Veterinarians with previous leadership experience or those ready to advance into a Medical Director position are encouraged to apply.
